Promotional Push Guideline
The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA)'s App Push Advertising Guidelines are aimed at helping businesses that send app push advertisements comply with the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. The main contents of the guidelines are as follows:
- Obtaining Consent for Reception
To send app push advertisements, you must obtain the recipients' explicit prior consent to receive them. Consent can be obtained when installing the app, within the app, or on a separate website.
- Providing Opportunities to Refuse or Withdraw Consent
Recipients can refuse to receive app push advertisements or withdraw their consent at any time. Refusal or withdrawal of consent can be done within the app or on a separate website.
- Restriction on Sending Night Advertisements
App push advertisements cannot be sent from 00:00 to 08:00.
- Information to be Stated When Sending Advertisements
When sending app push advertisements, the following information must be stated:

Prohibited Acts for Senders of Advertisements
Businesses sending app push advertisements must not engage in the following acts:
- Sending advertisements against the recipients' will
- Refusing or obstructing refusal or withdrawal of consent
- Falsely stating the fact of refusal or withdrawal of consent
Businesses sending app push advertisements must comply with the above guidelines, and failure to do so may result in a fine of up to 50 million won under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
Based on the example image, to comply with the app push advertising guidelines, the following points should be noted:
- Specify that it is an advertisement by inserting the phrase "(Advertisement)" in the title.
- State the content of the advertisement specifically.
- Clearly state the method to refuse or withdraw consent.
